Beatball will be the star of Cardiff's Girls Together event

Here's how we're celebrating the International Day of the Girl

Beatball is the new craze that’s getting girls all over Wales excited.

Now girls across Cardiff will experience the football and dance combo, at a special girls-only sports event.

Girls Together will be held on Tuesday, October 10, as part of the capital's International Day of the Girl celebrations.

The event, which will see girls from schools across the capital unite at Cardiff University’s Talybont Sports Village.

It will give the girls a chance to try-out up to 25 non-competitive sports activities, including our very own Beatball, which was launched last summer at Capital FM's Cardiff Bay Beach.

FAW Trust head of growth Jemma Appleby said: “One of our big priorities is to get more girls involved in football.

“We’re making fantastic progress but we want to encourage all girls to give Beatball a go.

“It’s a fantastic introduction to football because it combines ball work with music and dance in a way that’s really good fun.”

Sport Cardiff are also kicking off weekly Beatball sessions across the city, for girls aged 7-11.
