Welsh Language

The Welsh Football Trust is committed to supporting, promoting and facilitating the use of the Welsh language

The Trust supports the recommendations of the National Governing Body's Welsh Language Group which aims to promote the improved use of the language throughout its programmes. As part of its commitment the Trust aims to collaborate with the FAW to provide a Welsh Language lead officer responsible for:-

• identifying priorities for improving opportunities and the visibility of the Welsh Language in football;

• supporting the Welsh Language Commission in its activites;

• helping to share best practice with other sports;

• identifying champions who are Welsh Speaking to improve the profile of the language in the media.

• promoting Welsh Language courses to members of staff to improve their competence and confidence in the language;

• identifying staff, coaches, and volunteers who are Welsh Speaking and encouraging them to be visible as Welsh speakers by wearing badges and t-shirts to help encourage more participants to take part through the medium of Welsh;

• being visible and involved in Welsh Language festivals such as the National and Urdd Eisteddfod, Tafwyl and local Menter events.
