There are currently 30 PAN Disability Football Clubs across Wales who operate over 60 teams involving more than 800 players. Clubs train on a weekly basis providing opportunities for ages 8 years and beyond.
Clubs attend monthly regional festivals which are located in the North, South and West of the Country. Under 12, under 16 and over 16 age groups operate across 3 ability bands. Banding criteria operate to help ensure players participate in an environment suitable to their ability. Details of the ability bands can be found in the video and word document below.
In addition to PAN provision, several clubs have developed impairment specific coaching opportunities. Cardiff City FC run sessions for the following groups: people with Down’s syndrome, wheelchair users, people with cerebral palsy, deaf, and blind/partially sighted; whilst Swansea City FC run session’s for people who are blind/partially sighted. Wrexham FC have recently developed a deaf football session and have plans to develop a new physical disability session over the coming months.
